Art Improvement

Really not sure what to put this under Ah well.

Anyway, I've always wanted to do something like this xD Progress shots of my art through the past few years! I'd like to go even earlier than 2007, but I don't have access to those pieces right now... Maybe I'll throw them in for lulz sake in the future (especially if I add my REALLY old stuff). I was even lucky to have some old pictures from 2007-2008 on my computer o.o Thought for sure they weren't lying around any more and had gotten lost through the changing of computers.

2007- I was having a lot of fun with pencil drawings at this point, as I was still happy to have gotten a bunch as a gift a couple years before xD Minimal digital painting at this point, as I had only recently gotten a tablet too! Digital art was all done in GIMP at this point x)

2008- Started getting more comfortable with digital paintings (and would actually FINISH them). Also tried a trial version of Photoshop for the first time (the third pic from the left) and was honestly "meh" with it at first xD I was so used to GIMP that anything else felt too odd to use.

2009- Really was fully won over with digital painting at this point, and was still using GIMP. Also started college during the year! So was slowly getting more life drawing reference and practice xD Which though I still never really enjoy the class itself, I find that it really, REALLY has helped me.

2010- A few months into the year, I got SAI and fell in love. I could finally get the line art looking how I wanted, and painting became much smoother. Though I still had much to learn =X Also got Photoshop later in the year, but none of the examples shown were done in it as I was still kinda "eh" with it.

2011- Slowly becoming more comfortable with Photoshop, and would use either it or SAI depending on the drawing (though still was much more biased towards SAI.)

2012- While I may still plan in SAI, and do any line art in it, all painting now is pretty much exclusive to Photoshop. I still want to keep practicing with it, and now only use SAI to paint when I want the look it gives my work. Portraits are painted a lot for practice still xD And I am now trying to get better at painting backgrounds I seem to be good at trees now, as they're all I've been working on recently, so time to move onto other scenery lol...

I often feel like I haven't really improved so much, or as much as I would have liked. But looking at all of these images compiled fills me with hope! xD And now to keep on painting and drawing! Hopefully I'll be able to do another several years down the road and will see an improvement from 2012-onward.
